Dagegen stolpert man

Welcome to my
Homepage …
... I am a
passionate photographer since I was a child - especially black and
white - but also slides and digital.
These pages are focused on photography. Particularly on photos but also
on cameras and technique.
To present the pictures on the web, I think simple HTML is sufficient.
Therefore I decided not to use flash animation or any other stylish
techniques.
My development in photograpy
When I was about 5 years old, my farther gave me my first camera. The
camera used roll film 120 and it took me less than half an hour to
expose the film. My farther wasn't really excited about the costs I
generated further on. The quality was not enough for making
enlargements so I got contact copies. I still have some of the prints
from those days.
At school I attended a darkroom class and learned how to develop films
and photos. We bought a used enlarger from the old photographer in my
village. I got my own darkroom in our basement.
Although I am making slides and digital pics, my heart still hangs on
black and white prints on a good photographic paper.
This is the main reason for my late starting into digital photography:
I didnt want to give up the work in my darkroom.
About photography and time
Photos often reflect the wish to preserve the moment, the current
situation, or to preserve a view, a feeling or an experience. That
works! You can see this from plenty of pictures that overwhelm you with
emotions by viewing them. It is not of relevance whether the photo is a
black and white, a color print or a slide.
There is also a change over time how you look at a given photo: Maybe
you've spend high effort on technique or on composition by taking the
picture. But viewing this photo after years, you may consider it as
'yet another picture'. On the other hand, you might pick up a yellowed
crumpled print that shows a lucky moment in your life. You will be
pushed back in time and all your memories will come up immediate. The
value of this picture will increase immediately.
This happened to me very often when compiling the picture base for this
homepage. |
